Books I've Read

Goodreads is a really cool site.  It was cool before Amazon bought it, and Amazon made it even better.  Of course, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize why Amazon purchased Goodreads back in 2013.  When you already have a site full of book lovers (like Goodreads), why not give them the option to buy more books from you?  Anyway, I've decided to use some of the widgets that they offer, so below is a list of books that I've read (or at least since I started using Goodreads).  If this doesn't continue to grow over time, please contact me and tell me to 'start reading'! :)

Patrick's bookshelf: read

Scrappy Little Nobody
liked it
FOOTNOTE! :) I only use 'footnote' at the beginning of my review, because she shouts the word every time. It's actually pretty cute. As well as some of the other shouting she does throughout. This book was surprisingly funny, well writte...

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life
it was amazing
Everybody's free to wear sunscreen.... This was exactly what I was thinking as I read this book. It was filled with advice, "whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience..." :) If you remembe...

How Starbucks Saved My Life: A Son of Privilege Learns to Live Like Everyone Else
really liked it
I liked the book, but I have to admit that I was surprised by how early in the book the mention of an affair was brought up. I started the book under the assumption of it being a 'warm hearted' story, which evidentially it ended up being...

A Really Good Day: How Microdosing Made a Mega Difference in My Mood, My Marriage, and My Life
it was ok
Somewhat disappointing. Not a lot of information about microdosing, but more of a history of psychedelics. I'd often find myself getting bored of the multiple references to a 'somewhat bizarre' marriage, especially one that occasionally ...

The Only Pirate at the Party
really liked it
Of course my review will probably be completely biased, because I've been a Lindsey fan forever and a day, but I really liked the book. I wasn't sure what the title of the book had to do with Lindsey, but that was answered right away, an...

Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future
it was amazing
I fell in love with this book from the very beginning. It is well researched, written and a telling story about Elon's life. The failures, the bright spots, and everything in between. I appreciated him much more after reading it. So much...

Steve Jobs
it was amazing
Walter Isaacson did a fantastic job writing this book. The research, his personal interviews (and walks) with Steve, everything is incredible. A great overview and many detailed stories of his entire life. I always knew of the stories ab...

Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir
it was amazing
I read them backwards, I started with Furiously Happy, and then read Let's Pretend This Never Happened. It didn't matter though. Both books were unbelievably hilarious, and I think I'm secretly in love with Jenny Lawson. Yeah, that's rig...

Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things
it was amazing
Living with an incredible, often overwhelming case of OCD, anxiety and depression, I have difficulty reading, and have had this problem since a young boy in school. I'd often start a book, make it through the first couple of pages, only ...
